Tesla Cybertruck Tesla Cybertruck broke the internet in 2019 due to its futuristic and radical style, taking the internet to the streets and creating many memes. Its predecessor, the Lotus Esprit S from the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me, inspired the concept. Tesla’s new pickup looked ready for the world’s end and produced 250,000 orders within days of its debut. In the same year of the launch, another California-based EV company supported by Amazon, Rivian, unveiled the stunningly designed R1T electronic pickup. In 2020, General Motors revived the Hummer nameplate and introduced its 2022 GMC Hummer EV, the most striking full-size electric pickup. It was under the radar in the EV truck segment up until this point; Ford pulled the wraps of the massive Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup in 2021, the trucks of which are currently getting to the customers.

The resurrecting of a performance badge initially applied to the 1993 SVT Lightning; Ford did not completely reinvent the wheel when it launched an electric F-150. Instead, it redesigned the running gear and engine from America’s top-selling truck to accommodate an entirely new EV platform. The EV platform is set to change the game for the industry. This is what this 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning stacks against its soon-to-be electric-powered rivals.

Ford F-150 Lightning Vs. Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, Cybertruck: Range

With its standard battery that comes with when it’s equipped with its standard battery, the F150 Lightning comes with an estimated 230 miles of range, and the option of an extended battery will increase the capacity by 300 to 320 miles. With the lesser of those figures being assigned to the feature-packed (read weighty) Lightning Platinum trim. It is also a part of the Big Three, General Motors claims that the GMC Hummer EV will provide over 329 miles when on full charge, beating the range-extending Lightning pickup by a significant amount, but it’s important to note that due to its dimensions, it is the Hummer isn’t required to be EPA evaluated. The figures from General Motors are said to be derived through conducting the Hummer EV First Edition through the proper EPA tests; however, it will not appear in any sticker on the windows.

Rivian R1T Rivian R1T comes equipped with three battery choices. Currently, customers can have one hundred and 180-watt batteries ranging from 314 (EPA-verified) or 400 miles (estimated). Rivian states that a smaller battery of 105-kWh which has an estimate of 300 miles or greater, will be available shortly.

Moving on to possibly some of the more controversial cars of the past decade, Tesla’s dystopian Cybertruck provides you with three options for configuration. According to Tesla, a triple-motor, all-wheel drive setup offers 500 miles or more of driving range. In addition, the dual-motor Cybertruck promises 300 miles of content, and the single-motor, rear-wheel drive version is said to be able to cover 250 miles or more. These were the specifications provided at the time of the launch. It was delayed again, and the look changed significantly during that time.

Ford F-150 Lightning Vs. Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, Cybertruck: Performance

Slow trucks are a thing of the past. Three electric motors power it and rely on a four-wheel drive system. Hummer EV GMC Hummer EV produces 1000 horsepower and 11,500 pounds in torque (the torque number, naturally, is based on a funny math formula that we will explain in this article). As General Motors, in Watts to Freedom (WTF) mode, it is said that the Hummer electric pickup can hit 60 mph at a standstill in only 3.0 seconds. When we tested it, the enormous electric motor accelerated from 60 to 60 miles per hour in the exact timeframe. It was the most efficient pickup vehicle we’ve ever tested, taking the distinction over Rivian R1T. Rivian R1T.

The most potent Cybertruck equipped with the tri-motor and all-wheel drive system claims to reach 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. We have not determined Tesla’s official power numbers, but we estimate that the Cybertruck generates 690 horsepower and 824 pounds of torque. Perhaps it will not. We might never know, even though the truck is promised to arrive–finally–next year; it’s already over a year late, so take your time.

However, Rivian’s R1T has four electric motors, one for each wheel, and is equipped with standard all-wheel drive. This sleek battery-electric pickup came with 835 horsepower and 908 pounds of torque (earlier estimates had put the vehicle at 750 horsepower with 829 lb-ft) and speeded up to sixty mph within 3.2 seconds during our tests.

Ford’s all-electric Lightning truck is expected to be the most efficient F-150 ever. It comes with two motors, a standard all-wheel drive, and, for the very first time, an independently-operated rear suspension. Ford claims that the F-150 Lightning is available with an extended battery that produces 580 horsepower ( recently adjusted from 563 horsepower) and 775 lb-ft of torque. It also can go from 0-60 mph with a time of 4.4 seconds. The standard battery packs deliver the same amount of torque but “only” 452 hp, an increase from 426 horsepower. Whatever the case, this F-150 has the highest power of the range and the standard configuration outperforming its predecessor, the F-150 Raptor, in 2 horsepower (and tons of torque).

Ford F-150 Lightning Vs. Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, Cybertruck: Towing And Payload Capacity

For the towing specifications and payload capacity, the Ford F-150 Lightning can tow up to 10,000 pounds and carry a maximum payload of 2,235 pounds (recently increased from 2,000 pounds ), and 400 pounds can be stored within the spacious frame). If you choose not to use the most significant battery, whether the more work-oriented Ford Lightning Pro or the standard Lightning, the towing capacity decreases to 5500 pounds. But don’t be worried since there’s an alternative Max Trailer Tow option that increases towing capacity by 7,700 pounds.

GM claims that the Hummer EV can carry 1,300 pounds and tow up to 7,500 pounds, and Rivian states that a properly-equipped R1T can tow up to 11,000 pounds and have a maximum payload of 1,760 pounds.

By Tesla’s estimate, the single-motor rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck can pull 7,500 pounds. Dual motor models increase the capacity of towing by 10,000 pounds, and the tri-motor model can tow 14000 pounds towing. The Cybertruck comes with a payload capacity of 3,350 lbs, and according to Tesla, the three Cybertruck configurations can tow higher than the estimates they have made; however, it depends on whether the Cybertruck exists in the first place.
